This family history contains MANY Jameses and Williams. The Patrick family especially, had a fondness for the two names. James Patrick from Ireland had two living sons, James and William. Both James and William had sons named James and William. My great-grandfather (a William) broke with tradition and named both his sons, William!!! My grandfather (one of the two Williams) seems to have thought the whole tradition was getting silly and named his sons Roger and Alan.
So, I will number the Jameses and Williams. The first time they appear in a post, I will use the number. If there are no others by the same name in the post then I will leave off the number in any further references to them. I have numbered the members of my family tree before those of William Knox Patrick because I expect to talk about them more.
