This family history contains MANY Jameses and Williams. The Patrick family especially, had a fondness for the two names. James Patrick from Ireland had two living sons, James and William. Both James and William had sons named James and William. My great-grandfather (a William) broke with tradition and named both his sons . . . William!!! My grandfather (one of the two Williams) seems to have thought the whole tradition was getting silly and named his sons Roger and Alan. But, my brother is named William!
So, I will number the Jameses and Williams. The first time they appear in a post, I will use the number. If there are no others by the same name in the post then I will leave off the number in any further references to them. I have numbered the members of my family tree before those of William Knox Patrick because I expect to talk about them more.
